Lutherie has been my life's work since the beginning. After graduating from Roberto-Venn School of Lutherie in 1994, I set up my first shop in a rental garage, and began designing, building, repairing, and restoring fretted stringed instruments. Aided and abetted by 13 years of employment as a staff guitar repairman at Seattle's Trading Musician, I gained an extensive knowledge of the inner and outer workings of a vast array of instruments.

My first love is the designing and building of original instruments, informed equally by tradition and modern innovation. My early guitars were all one-of-a-kind, unique pieces which I built to satisfy both my own curiosity and my clients' special requirements in custom builds.

I am now building several models which I offer as my signature work. I've always had a special affinity for archtop guitars, but as you'll see in this website, I will go wherever the creative impulse takes me. The instruments I am building now are a distillation of the best design ideas I've found in classic instruments, re-imagined and evolved into higher form and function, as fine tools for discerning artists.

For sixteen years now, my bread and butter work has been in fretted instrument repair, customization, and restoration. I take great pride in making players' treasured instruments the very best they can be. Whether I am building my own custom designs, or fixing the issues on somebody's old workhorse, I strive to bring out the fullest potential of each instrument.
